The Rosary, reclaimed in its full meaning, goes to the very heart of Christian life, it offers a familiar yet fruitful spiritual and educational opportunity for personal contemplation, the formation of the People of God, and the new evangelization," the Pope said.

Just as we are called to be one from many, so the Rosary is a single, great prayer which unites the basic prayers of our faith.

In an Apostolic Letter issued from the Vatican on the 16th day of October, 2002, Pope John Paul II says that the Rosary "makes us peacemakers in the world." He states, "I look to all of you, brothers and sisters of every state of life... confidently take up the rosary once again. Rediscover the Rosary in the light of Scripture, in harmony with the Liturgy, and in the context of your daily lives." That same month, in a communication from the United States Catholic Bishops, Catholics are "urged to recite it daily to ask the intercession of the Blessed Mother for world peace and to protect humanity from the evils of violence and war.
