St. John's Hospice
Saint Philip's Parishioners have been helping to feed the homeless at St. John's Hospice for over 25 years. The casserole program has been an interpretation of the divine injunction to feed the hungry. Our recipients are needy men, women and children of the Philadelphia inner city who rely on St. John's Hospice for a nourishing, hot mid-day meal. The Hospice, at 13th & Races Streets feeds about 300 people each day. The Hospice also gives overnight shelter to men in extreme needs. The casseroles are prepared in an individuals own kitchen and are basically "Shepherd's Pie". The recipe is available in our Parish Office or at the home of Barbara McCarthy. Mrs. McCarthy can also provide information regarding the time casseroles are due, the place to pick up pans, lids, etc. and other necessary details.

Volunteer

Could you find time to make a casserole for the homeless at St. John's? Pans, lids and recipes are available in the Church Office and at Barbara McCarthy's (610-828-2058). Frozen casseroles are brought to Barbara's house before 9:00 AM the first Wednesday of each month. The next delivery is Wednesday, March 7. Please consider this work of mercy in your busy schedule. They are greatly needed and appreciated.
