As we journey through Holy Week, we invite you to participate in a deeply moving and ancient tradition: the Tenebrae Service, also known as the Service of Darkness.
Join us at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church on Good Friday Evening, April 18, 2025, at 7:00 pm for this unique service of readings and meditations focused on the Passion of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The Tenebrae service is a powerful way to reflect on Christ's sacrifice. The atmosphere is contemplative, marked by the gradual extinguishing of candles, symbolizing the flight of the apostles and the impending darkness of the crucifixion.
Enhancing this solemn occasion will be beautiful music provided by our own Schola Cantorum, accompanied by Flute, Oboe, Cello, and Piano, under the direction of Michael Xavier Lundy, Director of Music and Organist.
The service will be presided over by The Rev. Fr. George Szparagowski.
This ancient service offers a poignant space for reflection and prayer as we approach Easter Sunday. All are welcome to join our parish community for this special evening.
